Change can shake up even the parts of life that once felt stable. Sometimes the transition is chosen—a new job, marriage, parenthood, a move, or returning to school. Sometimes it arrives without your permission—a breakup, divorce, illness, loss, unemployment, identity shifts, or family changes. Ontario counselling pages often describe life transitions as experiences that alter routines, relationships, roles, and assumptions, and therapy can help people cope with the emotional strain that follows.
Even positive change can bring grief, doubt, or anxiety. Therapy can help you make sense of what is ending, what is emerging, and how to stay connected to yourself while your life is changing.

This isn't a weakness. Anxiety is your nervous system doing what it's designed to do in stress. But it needs the right support to calm down again. Therapy can help.
Together, we may work to
Before You Start Therapy
Where You Can Move Toward

01 Understanding the Shift
We start by looking at what is changing and how it is affecting you emotionally, mentally, physically, and relationally.
02 Supporting the In-Between
Transitions often involve an in-between stage where life feels unfamiliar. Therapy gives you support while things are still unsettled.
03 Moving Forward With Intention
As things become clearer, therapy can help you reconnect with your values, your capacity, and the kind of life you want to shape next.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
You can't stop thinking about what might go wrong. It's not about one thing—it's everything. Health, money, work, relationships, the future. You're restless, tense, tired, and can't sleep well. It feels like your brain won't let you relax even when there's no actual threat. Therapy helps you quiet this mental noise and find steadiness.
The Sudden Panic Attacks
You're fine, and then suddenly your heart is racing, you can't breathe, and your hands are shaking. You feel like you're losing control or something catastrophic is happening. After it ends, you're scared it will happen again, so you start avoiding places or situations. We work on understanding these responses and rebuilding safety in your body.
The Social Fear
You're worried about being judged before you even show up. You overthink what you'll say, worry people will notice you're anxious, or avoid groups altogether. It might start as shyness, but it grows into something that limits your life. Therapy helps you feel more comfortable with yourself and less focused on what others think.
High-Functioning Anxiety
Looks like success on the outside but feels like constant pressure, overthinking, and exhaustion on the inside. You meet deadlines, but internally you're racing and unable to rest. Therapy helps you reduce the inner critic.
Overthinking and Rumination
The mind gets stuck in loops of worry, "what-if" scenarios, or replaying conversations. It drains energy and makes decision-making harder. Therapy helps you interrupt these patterns.
